In order to ensure the safety and well-being of our skating community we have put together policies, procedures and protocols to keep our skaters, patrons and employees safe.  We will be following all Federal, State and local guidelines to ensure we are offering a safe clean facility.

These guidelines will continue to be updated as new information becomes available to ensure that the facility can safely operate in the changing environment. Please visit simsburyrec.com for updates to current policies.

Facility Practices and Protocols: 

  • Please do not attend a program or enter the facility if you are feeling sick or ill, have recently been in contact with someone who is sick or ill or have returned from a COVID-19 travel restricted state in the previous 14 days. We encourage anyone 65 years or over with underlying COVID-19 susceptible conditions to stay home and remain safe.
  • Please follow directional signage for entering and exiting facility. 
  • Do not arrive more than 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of the ice session.
  • Everyone (2 years & older) MUST wear a face covering when entering, exiting and while in the facility.   When on the ice  a mask must be worn and social distance as best as possible. Coaches and players must wear a mask when on the ice or bench. 
  • All players must arrive at least partially dressed to access the ice and to minimize the use of the team rooms. The team rooms are open with a maximum occupancy of twelve players and social distancing must be observed. 
  • Face coverings must be worn at all times while in the team rooms.    Players are restricted to no more than TEN minutes in the team rooms.  NO LOITERING ALLOWED IN TEAM ROOMS.
  • Each team room must be wiped down, benches/touch points, by a team official after each use.  
  • Limited number of spectators allowed in the facility.  SYHA – 1 parent/guardian per player
  • Preregistration is required for public skate sessions and all Recreation Department programs.  There are no walkups allowed. 
  • Showers will not be accessible. 
  • The restrooms are open. 
  • Once the session ends, all participants should exit the facility immediately. Players should not take their helmet off until they can put on a face covering or leave the facility. 
  • Once outside, please proceed immediately to your car. No loitering outside or in the parking lot. 


Cleaning and Disinfecting: 

  • The facility will be cleaned and disinfected in accordance with CDC guidelines. 
  • All high touch areas will be disinfected every day. 
  • Hand sanitizer dispensers are available throughout the facility. 



  • Employees will be instructed to stay home if not feeling well.
  • All employees will wear proper PPE.
  • Employees will receive COVID 19 awareness training to protect themselves and our patrons. 
  • Temperature readings will be taken daily of all employees. 
  • Employees will regularly wash their hands or use the hand sanitizers. 



  • Appropriate policies and guidelines will be posted throughout the facility.
